The Historian

The EBHP is the brainchild of public historian and adjunct professor Carys O’Neill. An avid traveler and museum-goer, Carys combines her own observations and experiences with her training as a historian to challenge existing narratives of inclusion and belonging. Her work not only helps elevate traditionally marginalized voices, but also furthers discussions on the role of gender in narrative-setting, the sociocultural relevance of monuments and memorials, and the nature of representation in public spaces. Carys has won several awards for her research in her time at the University of Central Florida and aims to return to the heritage sector to bring innovative research and insight to the communities it best serves.

Carys would like to extend her sincerest gratitude to Drs. Amelia Lyons, Rosalind Beiler, and Caroline Cheong of the University of Central Florida History Department for their inspiration and guidance on this project.
